Vensure Employer Solutions Review, an independent broker's honest assessment.

Vensure Employer Solutions is the largest private PEO group in the country, assembled through more than 100 acquisitions, and the PEO we turn to for blue-collar employers that Justworks and Sequoia One will not write: construction, staffing, restaurants and manufacturing. The strength and the weakness are the same fact: the industry-vertical depth was inherited from the acquired brands, and the service your account receives depends on which legacy team actually delivers it.

Quick verdict: the TL;DR.

Our score
3.5/5
Industry-vertical depth, scale-driven benefits buying power and a CPEO plus ESAC stack are real advantages; the score is held by service that varies by legacy brand and an integration that is still uneven.
Best for
Blue-collar and industry-specific SMBs of 25 to 300 employees in construction, staffing, restaurants, manufacturing, healthcare and nonprofits that other PEOs decline.
Worst for
Pure tech and SaaS startups, buyers who want a uniform single-vendor service experience, and anyone who cannot tolerate integration uncertainty.

We've placed clients with Vensure Employer Solutions across multiple industries and headcounts. The assessment below reflects what actually happens in real engagements, not what the Vensure Employer Solutions sales deck says happens, not what the affiliate review sites report based on commission spreads, and not what aggregated G2 stars suggest.

Company background: Vensure Employer Solutions.

Vensure Employer Solutions was founded in 2004 and is privately held, backed by Stone Point Capital. It serves roughly 526,000 worksite employees, which makes it the largest private PEO group in the United States and puts it in the same scale bracket as the public national PEOs. It did not get there organically: Vensure has made more than 100 acquisitions, absorbing regional and specialty PEOs including Tandem HR and Solvo, and a senior secured financing facility supports continued growth.

That history produced something no single PEO could have built: a bench of industry-vertical expertise in the classes most PEOs avoid. The acquired brands understood construction workers' compensation, staffing-firm tax complexity and restaurant tip-credit issues before they were acquired, and that knowledge is now inside Vensure. For a blue-collar employer that has been declined by the tech-focused PEOs, Vensure is frequently the answer.

Vensure holds IRS CPEO certification and ESAC accreditation, so federal employment tax liability transfers to the PEO, the wage base carries over on a mid-year start, and ESAC's bonded financial assurance stands behind its obligations. Fewer than seven percent of PEOs hold both. For a group built by acquisition, that credential stack is worth noting; it is not a given.

Pricing: what to expect.

Vensure quotes per client and does not publish a rate. Pricing is PEPM or a percentage of payroll, and the directory records a point other PEOs do not have: the structure varies by legacy brand. Two Vensure proposals for similar companies in different regions can arrive on different bases, so ask which legacy brand is quoting and insist on seeing the fee on both a PEPM and a percentage-of-payroll basis so you can compare it to other quotes like for like.

Where Vensure wins a comparison is usually not the administrative fee but the lines that depend on scale and vertical knowledge: medical buying power from a 526,000-employee base, and workers' compensation in classes that are expensive or unavailable elsewhere. For a construction or restaurant employer, the workers' comp line and the fact that Vensure will write the class at all can decide the comparison.

Contracts are annual. Given the roll-up, the clause to add is a service-continuity commitment: which legacy team services your account, who your named contact is, and what happens if that team is integrated or reassigned during the term.

Strengths: what Vensure Employer Solutions does well.

Writes the industries other PEOs decline

Construction, staffing, restaurants and manufacturing are classes that Justworks and Sequoia One do not write and many others price defensively. Vensure writes them and understands them, which is its defining strength and the reason it is on most of our blue-collar comparisons.

Industry-vertical depth inherited from acquired brands

The acquired specialty PEOs brought their expertise with them: construction workers' comp classification, staffing-firm multi-state tax, restaurant tip credits. That is the deepest industry-vertical bench in the SMB tier, and it is real rather than marketing.

Scale produces benefits buying power

A base of roughly 526,000 worksite employees gives Vensure decent leverage on its master medical plans, which matters most for the blue-collar SMB that has never been able to offer competitive benefits on its own.

CPEO and ESAC

Both credentials, which puts a PE-backed roll-up in the same compliance bracket as the public national PEOs and answers the first question a cautious CFO asks.

Considerations: the things to weigh.

We frame these as considerations rather than negatives because most are real trade-offs rather than disqualifying flaws, but they are things we make sure clients understand before signing.

Service varies by which legacy brand delivers

Vensure operates through more than 100 acquired brands. The service experience varies dramatically depending on which legacy team actually handles your account, and the proposal will not necessarily tell you. Ask early and explicitly which brand and which team will service you, and check references with clients of that team, not of Vensure in general.

Integration consistency is uneven

A roll-up of this size is still integrating systems, processes and service standards. Two Vensure clients can be on different platforms with different procedures. A buyer who wants a uniform single-vendor experience will notice; get platform and process commitments in the contract.

Brand recognition below the national top three

Vensure is as large as the national PEOs by headcount but far less known, partly because it has grown by acquiring brands rather than building one. That affects nothing about the service, but it does mean your peers may not have heard of it and public references are scattered across the legacy names.

The fit: who should and shouldn't pick Vensure Employer Solutions.

Good fit for Vensure Employer Solutions

  • +Construction, staffing, restaurant and manufacturing employers of 25 to 300 employees
  • +Blue-collar SMBs that have been declined by tech-focused PEOs
  • +Healthcare and nonprofit employers that want scale-driven benefits pricing
  • +Buyers who require CPEO certification and ESAC accreditation

Bad fit for Vensure Employer Solutions

  • −Pure tech and SaaS startups, which have better-fitting options
  • −Companies that want a uniform single-vendor service experience
  • −Buyers who cannot tolerate integration uncertainty during the term
  • −Anyone unwilling to ask which legacy team will service the account before signing

Frequently asked questions Vensure Employer Solutions.

Is Vensure a certified PEO?

Yes. Vensure Employer Solutions holds IRS CPEO certification and ESAC accreditation, a combination fewer than seven percent of PEOs carry.

What size company is Vensure best for?

Vensure positions for 10 to 500 employees, and the mid-market of 25 to 300 is the core, particularly for blue-collar and industry-specific employers.

Where does Vensure operate?

Nationally. With roughly 526,000 worksite employees across more than 100 acquired brands it is the largest private PEO group in the US, though the local service team you get depends on which legacy brand covers your account.

Does Vensure publish pricing?

No. Vensure quotes per client as PEPM or a percentage of payroll, and the structure varies by legacy brand, so ask for both bases to compare like for like.

What is the main complaint about Vensure?

Service consistency. Vensure operates through more than 100 acquired brands, including Tandem HR and Solvo, and the experience varies based on which legacy team delivers your account. Ask which team it will be before you sign.

How does Vensure compare to CoAdvantage?

Both write blue-collar classes well. CoAdvantage is a Southeast SMB PEO with strong workers' comp pooling and competitive fees for smaller companies; Vensure is far larger, national, with deeper industry-vertical benches in staffing and restaurants but more variance in who services the account.

Will Vensure write a construction or staffing company?

Yes, and that is its distinctive position: it writes construction, staffing, restaurants and manufacturing, industries that Justworks and Sequoia One decline, and the acquired specialty PEOs gave it real expertise in those classes.
