Landrum HR Solutions Review 2026

Family-owned Pensacola PEO, ESAC accredited since 1995 and IRS certified since 2017

Founded: 1970·Best for: 5 to 500 employees, positioned at small and mid-size businesses (sweet spot: 10 to 150)·Bundled administrative fee quoted per client, driven by headcount, payroll and workers' compensation risk class

Our take

Landrum is the kind of PEO we put in front of a Gulf Coast or Southeast client who wants credentials and continuity rather than software. The credential stack is genuinely strong: IRS certification limits your federal payroll tax exposure, and an ESAC record running back to 1995 is about as much financial assurance as a private regional PEO can offer. What you trade away is scale and technology, so we always compare the benefit plan rates and renewal history against a national carrier-backed PEO before recommending them. Ask for the medical renewal history on similar-sized groups and get the workers' compensation class rates in writing, because that is where a regional quote usually wins or loses.

What Landrum HR Solutions does well

  • Holds both credentials that matter: Landrum Professional Employer Services, Inc. III is on the IRS CPEO list effective 1/1/2017, and the firm has been ESAC accredited since 1995
  • A founding participant in ESAC, with continuous accreditation for 30 years as of 2025, which is among the longest unbroken records in the industry
  • Operating continuously under family ownership since 1970, so there is no private equity recapitalization risk in the near term
  • Stated reach of more than 1,800 client businesses across 44 states as of its 50th anniversary in 2020
  • Bundled PEO scope: payroll and tax, benefits administration, MyLandrum HRIS, risk management and safety, and HR consulting and training

Watch-outs and limitations

  • Service footprint is concentrated in Northwest Florida and the Southeast, with satellite offices in the Carolinas and Georgia rather than national coverage
  • No published pricing; the website quotes general per-employee PEO cost ranges rather than its own rate card
  • MyLandrum is a competent HRIS but not a differentiator against platform-led PEOs
  • Company staff count and worksite employee totals are not published, which makes scale hard to benchmark

✓ Best for

Small and mid-size Gulf Coast and Southeast employers

Buyers who want both CPEO and ESAC credentials from a regional firm

Companies replacing an unstaffed or one-person HR function

Employers that value a named local service team over a self-service app

⚠ Not ideal for

Tech-first companies wanting a modern all-in-one HR and IT platform

Large multi-state or multinational employers needing a national service bench

Buyers who need published pricing before a sales conversation
